Fo Guang University's cross-school teacher training community promotes sustainable teaching practices and was recognized as an "Excellent Community" by the Eastern District Base

Fo Guang University teachers devote themselves to sustainable teaching practice and spread the good results again! Teacher Huang Qiulian from the Department of Lohas Industry of Foguang University serves as the convener, and together with Teacher Zhang Yulin from the Department of Communication, Teacher Cheng Guan Shuhui from Yilan University’s Bachelor’s Degree in Smart Leisure Agriculture, and Teacher Su Huijun from the Department of Earth Environment and Bioresources of Taipei City University, jointly Form a "teacher training community for integrating local sustainable agriculture into teaching practice research". 113 Teaching Practice Research Project Eastern Base has planned 21 groups of cross-school teacher communities to participate in the evaluation. This community won the only "Excellent Community" award, demonstrating the outstanding results of Foguang teachers' investment in sustainable innovative teaching and cross-school teaching practice.
This community focuses on promoting the "Carbonized Rice Husk Project" and combines the professional fields of four teachers to design a variety of activities and innovative lesson plans, seamlessly connecting from classroom to industry-university cooperation. Through regular gatherings and mutual sharing, community members work hand in hand in teaching practice research, integrating each other's majors into diversified teaching strategies and teaching material development. Community convenor Teacher Huang Qiulian pointed out: "Through community cooperation, we not only improve the flexibility of the classroom, but also combine the circular economy concept of carbonized rice husk with creativity to design interesting experiential activities, allowing students to apply sustainable knowledge to Extend the spread of teaching influence in local practice.”
The community has achieved fruitful results. In terms of teaching practice research projects, it has prompted 4 applications for the 114-year teaching practice research project; a total of 3 teaching-related project results have been shared, and it has been invited to conduct 10 special topics at on-campus and off-campus activities. share. In addition, teacher Huang Qiulian from this community was shortlisted for the 2024 Sustainable Teaching Practice and Achievements Competition. Community members jointly developed 3 innovative teaching materials or lesson plans, and produced 5 student learning works and displays. The academic discussions were performed in the 2024 Effective Teaching Seminar and Papers were published at the APFITA Asia-Pacific Agricultural Science and Technology Symposium, fully demonstrating the results of community cross-field cooperation.
Participating community teachers have also gained inspiration and growth in many aspects from the practice of sustainable teaching. Inspired by the community, teacher Zhang Yulin integrated the theme of sustainability into the course design of "Communication and Presentation" and "Communication Theory" so that students can learn to combine environmental communication with sustainable education, and use animation and audio-visual creation to add interest to learning. Teacher Su Huijun designed a more attractive environmental sustainability course through SDGs board games and net-zero primary school activities shared in the community, improving students' classroom participation and enhancing learning effects. Teacher Guan Shuhui integrated the SDGs board game experience and the sustainable concept of carbonized rice husk into the smart leisure agriculture course design to enhance students' understanding of net-zero agriculture, and innovative design became part of teaching practice. Community members jointly affirmed that community cooperation can help expand the depth and breadth of teaching, and gain valuable experience in writing and applying for teaching practice research projects.
This teacher community fully reflects the Foguang University Teaching Development Center and supports teachers to promote the results of teaching practice cooperation. In the future, community members will learn from teaching practice experience through cross-school and cross-field teaching practice cooperation, and develop more innovative teaching results for sustainable development education.
